Founded as a nonprofit entity in 1996 by Winrock International, American Carbon Registry (ACR) is the first voluntary offset program and focuses on the voluntary market and the California Cap-and-Trade program in the U.S.
Some of the projects within the ACR registry include landfill gas destruction and beneficial use, transport fleet efficiency, and methane recovery in animal manure management systems.
What sets it apart from other standards
American Carbon Registry is mainly focused on U.S. based projects.
